Sunday School begins Sunday, September 13!

Pre-School through 5th Grade Class

Challenges and changes are a part of everyday life.  Old models of doing things don't always work.  Sometimes we are challenged to find new ways to accomplish a task, meet a goal or exercise responsibility.  Sunday School at Immanuel is in the midst of such a challenge.

Beginning September 13, young folks ages 3 through 5th grade will gather in the church basement immediately following the children's message during the 9:00 a.m. worship service.  The children will spend approximately 35-40 minutes working on different Bible stories and other Christian education activities.  This session will last until 10:00-10:15.

This new program is being implemented on a trial basis.  Positive and creative ideas about how best to do ministry are encouraged and always welcome!

Middle School and High School Class

Students in middle school and high school will meet at 10:15 a.m. in the nursery just as they did last year.  Deb Beurer will be the instructor for this class.

Adult Class

The adult class will also meet at 10:15 a.m. and will gather in the worship area.  Jerry Hayes will be facilitating the class for the first 4 weeks.

Weeks 1-3 will follow recent Lectionary readings from Proverbs in a series titled "God's Standard or Gold Standard."  Here is the line-up of topics...
Week 1--9/13     What Is Our Standard of Living?                       Proverbs 22:1-2, 8-9, 22-23
Week 2--9/20     Are We Singing the Standards of Wisdom?       Proverbs 1:20-33
Week 3--9/27     Are We Raising God's Standard?                     Proverbs 31:10-31

Week 4 focuses on a recent article in The Lutheran titled "With Spiritual Ears Wide Open."  We have always lived in a diverse world — inhabited by people of many faiths, perspectives, ethnicities and political leanings — but something has changed. Communications and mobility make it more likely that we will interact with one another and be in conversation. To live peacefully together requires some effort, as well as rules of engagement. Do you have them?

Hope to see you there!
