Lent...a season of meditation, reflection and confession

Instead of giving up something for Lent, try adding something to your faith life.
Here are a few suggestions...
--Add extra devotion.  Attend Wednesday evening Lenten worship or really focus when in attendance.
--Add extra reading.  Swap that novel for something devotional.  Read one of the Gospels from start to finish.  Watch Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" or "Jesus of Nazareth."
--Add extra confession.  Every Christian needs to confess his or her transgressions and adding time away from Sunday morning is an excellent way to re-center your life on Christ.  Spend genuine time preparing.
--Add extra giving.  Give extra money to charity.  Give your extra time to charity.  Give extra prayer by interceding for those on our church prayer list and others in your life.
These are just a few ideas that any of us can do during this Lenten season.  While we often think of Lent as a solemn, reflective season, it is a glorius time of renewal and opportunity for each of us.  We can all benefit from some form of spiritual renewal.  As we struggle as Christians in an often hostile world, let us spend time with God--the source of our strength, our hope, our joy and our salvation.
